This semester wasn’t easy. That’s the reason why the activity on ITAD in last few weeks wasn’t really high. But we will have Christmas soon so before I start studying for exams I’ll have some time to work on ITAD. Hopefully.

So what will I try to work on?
First of all, I need to set up issue tracker. Emails are awesome but it’s getting to the point where I can’t manage it, really. Plus I won’t feel bad about not responding in a timely manner. In fact, I already have an issue tracker. It was public at first, then private and I set it to public again now. I have tried to use it few times but it never worked out for me (because millions of notes everywhere is much more effective, right?), but it’s much better than emails, so let’s give it a try once more. Once I clean it up a little I’ll add link to ITAD. For now, you can access it here: https://bitbucket.org/tfedor/isthereanydeal.com/issues.
Next I need to “consolidate” ITAD a bit. There were some changes in Steam API and some things are still a little broken or could be optimized, so I start with that. A lot of optimizations needs to be done on database side of things, too - my sysadmin is shouting at me that my queries are slow and take too much time. And he’s right. So this is that boring stuff that needs to be done and nobody will see the results.
I’ll try to work on emails - text version, to be specific, which is unreadable now. I am not going to make it before winter sale starts though.
After that is done I’m going to work on profiles. That means Waitlists, Collections and profile pages. I’m going to simplify addition of games to Waitlist from ITAD, make defaults work globally for all additions and not different system for manual add, wishlist import and sync. I’m going to add export of Waitlist and Collection, bulk edit in Collections and so on. If you want to be sure I know about the thing you want me to do, add it to issue tracker ;)
Originally this blogpost should have been much better, by the way. I was planning to explain things and write a roadmap and so on. But I decided to try Vanishing of Ethan Carter instead and decided I won’t write anything at all. But then I was not feeling like going to sleep yet and here we are…

History
The original project (Enhanced Steam) was created by Jason Shackles (jshackles). Unfortunately, he has announced its end of life, so IsThereAnyDeal team has decided to pick it up and continue to enhance Steam for you.
The original extension has been live for years, and Jason did a tremendous job with it. However, as with any project of this size and years of support, it needed a little bit of cleanup. Therefore, we have completely rebuilt it from the ground up, aiming to provide as many of the original features as possible, while adding new ones down the line.

The extension communicates with IsThereAnyDeal servers to ensure functionality of some of the features of the extension.
Usually, these requests consists of the IDs of the games you are browsing and your currency. These are not tied to your account in any way.
Profile features may require to send your numerical Steam ID, e.g. for custom backgrounds. To use these features, you may be required to log in to our servers via Steam, in which case your numerical Steam ID will be stored on our servers.
Isthereanydeal Sea Of Thieves
To ensure quality of service, requests to our servers are logged. These logs contain your IP address and are stored for no longer than 90 days, but usually 30 days.
